The project situated in the historic center of Cluj addresses the challenge of reconfiguring a 19th-century plot, enclosed by property lines. The project reinterprets the principle of the traditional inner courtyard, generating a contemporary workspace. The brutalist facade, articulated in concrete and glass, defines a discreet presence in the dense urban fabric. This approach allows for subtle integration, while also opening controlled perspectives, including towards the silhouette of the Orthodox church. The interior is conceived as a bright and austere environment.
The transparency of the glass maximizes natural light penetration, while exposed concrete confers a contemporary sobriety. The atmosphere of the inner courtyard evokes Viennese elegance, offering a calm refuge. The raw materiality of the concrete contrasts with the reflections of the glass, creating a visual dynamic. This urban restoration strategy through modern insertion demonstrates a logical argumentation, balancing the memory of the place with current functional requirements.
