Tolochenaz Public Park

The public park in Tolochenaz, Switzerland, represents a strategic reconfiguration of an underutilized sports area dating back to the 1970s. The main objective was its transformation into a multifunctional park, capable of stimulating sports activities and, essentially, bringing together the local community. The concept is articulated around the idea of a community park, subtly integrating the memory of the place, including a discreet homage to Audrey Hepburn, a resident of the neighborhood. The architectural intervention aims to modernize the existing buildings, bringing them up to current functional and aesthetic standards.
The selection of materials prioritizes natural elements: wood provides a warm texture, and the extensive transparency of the envelope allows natural light to flood the spaces, creating visual permeability between the interior and the landscape. This approach generates a welcoming atmosphere, a suitable setting for families and social interaction. The project functions as a transitional urban block, coherently articulating the fabric of individual residences with the adjacent mixed-use area, revitalizing a neglected site into a vibrant hub of civic life.
