The Marriott Hotel project in Cluj Napoca faces a specific architectural challenge: its insertion into a site with deep historical resonance, in the heart of the city. The main objective was to reconstruct the street front, an urban planning necessity, while preserving crucial visual permeability. A generous volumetric cutout, outlined in an alleyway, pierces the building, creating a strategic visual axis that frames the ruins of the medieval city wall as the central element of the composition. The exterior envelope preserves the full-empty ratio found along the street.
