Lidl Sighișoara

In the urban landscape of Sighișoara, the Lidl project proposes an architectural intervention that transcends simple commercial functionality. The challenge lay in adapting the brand’s aesthetic to the specifics of the built space. The concept of urban integration guides the endeavor, materialized through an urban monoblock volumetry that aligns with the scale and texture of the site. Brick facades and the roof with ceramic tiles visually anchor the volume in the landscape, dialoguing with traditional architecture and imparting a solid, timeless perception. Ambient light is absorbed and reflected differently by these surfaces, accentuating their materiality. The interior reveals a contemporary industrial aesthetic, softened by the warmth of the materials.
Exposed CLT structural elements not only underscore the commitment to sustainable construction but also infuse the space with a natural vibration. Here, zenithal light plays an essential role, highlighting the grain of the wood and metal. The result is a warm and inviting atmosphere, a counterpoint to the typical sterility of commercial spaces. The project demonstrates a logical argumentation, balancing global identity with contextual sensitivity and the imperatives of sustainability.
