J Residential Building

The project addresses the challenge of urban densification in Cluj’s satellite villages, specifically Apahida. The architectural intervention proposes a building that functions as a transitional image, visually and volumetrically mediating between the extended urban and rural fabric. The ground floor and lower levels, defined by exposed brick, anchor the construction in the local character, allowing the material to capture and modulate daylight, imparting an evocative texture.
The upper levels, treated with white render and covered with traditional tiled roofs, soften the perception of the volume, integrating it harmoniously into the existing residential landscape. This material and volumetric stratification simultaneously creates an effective screen towards the railway, managing the acoustic and visual impact. The interior spaces, with a contemporary, neutral, and warm design, complement the transitional residential atmosphere, offering a logical response to the increased demand for housing in the peri-urban context.
