L House
House L is nestled on a majestic hill in Sălicea, a west-facing site with an extensive panorama stretching for tens of kilometers towards the Apuseni Mountains. The major challenge was managing a sharply-shaped plot with a considerable slope. The architectural intervention followed the site’s inherent forces, creating a tailored massing that integrates naturally into the topographical context. The central concept optimizes the opening of interior spaces towards the landscape, transforming the panorama into a defining element of the living experience. The materials, wood and slate, are not mere finishes; they anchor the construction in the specifics of the Transylvanian hills. Natural light penetrates deeply, interacting with the raw textures and creating subtle plays of shadows. The interior, imbued with a Nordic calm, evokes serenity. This atmosphere allows for an unhindered perception of the exterior, each window becoming a living frame. The project demonstrates a strong logical rationale, transforming the site’s constraints into an aesthetic and functional advantage.
