Șaguna Protected Built Area Urban Plan
The urbann planning project targets a protected built area addressing the essential challenge of integration into a historic front, at the edge of Sibiu’s fortified ribbon ensemble. The central concept is the memory of the place, a reinterpretation of the identity of the old parceling and the typology of the enclosed compound, specific to the 19th century. The facade, made of masonry, displays a mimetic solid-void ratio, reflecting the rhythm and proportions of the existing context.
This materiality allows light to sculpt the volumes, emphasizing depth and dialogue with the surrounding environment. Inside, plaster and exposed brick contribute to creating a burgher atmosphere, authentic to the center of Sibiu. The intervention demonstrates firm respect for the existing built framework. It is a logical completion of the historic front, preserving the essence and distinct atmosphere of the protected area. The solution proposes a discreet urban integration, but with a contemporary architectural presence, anchored in tradition.
