Rivus Urban Plan

This urban planning project addresses a major challenge: the reurbanization of a former industrial platform in Cluj-Napoca, a complex area marked by the proximity of the Someș River, the railway, and developing public infrastructure. The central intervention is the creation of a 4.4-hectare park on the riverbank, a vital green artery that re-establishes the city’s connection with the Someș. Urban permeability is ensured through innovative traffic solutions: a four-lane road bridge over the Someș and two strategic pedestrian bridges, essential for traffic flow and accessibility. The project redevelops 1 Mai Square and restores two heritage industrial buildings, integrating them into an urban mall with modern interiors. This juxtaposition creates a dialogue between history and contemporaneity, where natural light generously penetrates the reconfigured spaces.  The use of ecological materials and green building principles underscores a commitment to sustainability. The resulting atmosphere is a vibrant blend of urbanity, riverine nature, and modern retail, transforming the area into a dynamic hub that redefines Cluj’s urban profile.
