G Shopping Center Gallery Urban Plan

In the context of Sibiu’s accelerated urban dynamics, marked by modern industrialization, highway access, and airport proximity, the Commercial Galleries urban planning project proposes a strategic intervention. The central challenge consisted of reconverting a former fuel depot, an area with an outdated industrial profile, into a vibrant commercial hub. The new commercial gallery intelligently integrates into the urban landscape, decisively orienting itself towards the city’s western access node.  This strategic positioning facilitates a coherent dialogue with the major traffic network that borders the site on three sides, ensuring traffic fluidity and visibility.
Simultaneously, the intervention discreetly protects the Mercure Hotel by creating a functional and aesthetic barrier. The architecture adopts a contemporary language, with modern materials and finishes, specific to the strip mall concept. The interior, designed for maximum functionality, complements the urban atmosphere, situated at the edge of Sibiu’s new industrial zone. Glazed facades, interspersed with opaque panels, capture natural light, lending interior spaces constant luminosity and an open perception, in contrast with the robustness of the exterior structure. This approach reconfigures the area’s identity, transforming an industrial site into a nodal point of urban life.
